In our review of the OTTY mattress, we delve deeper into its hybrid design, and at first glance, its specifications are notable, especially the inclusion of full-sized pocket springs. OTTY mattresses represent some of the most budget-friendly options available online. Yet, this affordability does not compromise sleep quality. The OTTY Hybrid offers a slightly firmer feel than a purely foam mattress (rated 7/10), a characteristic that will appeal to those who prefer a firmer sleeping surface.

What’s the OTTY mattress made from?
The OTTY mattress is a five-layer hybrid bed meaning it has a combination of foam and springs. The foam is hypoallergenic you have a low chance of getting an allergic reaction. The OTTY mattress is also Certipur and Europur certified (which is incredible at the price point) so it’s free from nasty chemicals like mercury and lead. OTTY has full-length pocket springs instead of micro springs which give the bed responsiveness and support.
Starting from the top:
Blue Gel Memory Foam (3cm) – Having a memory foam top layer is great for comfort and pressure relief, one of the drawbacks to memory foam is heat retention. That’s why OTTY uses gel-infused memory foam this helps with heat dispersion leaving you with the benefits.
Transition Foam Layer (3cm) – This layer is polyfoam which is standard practice for a transition layer. Because it great for protecting the the top comfort layer from the springs underneath.
Pocket Springs (14cm) – This layer sets the OTTY apart from its competitors and is what makes the bed a hybrid. The addition of the 14cm springs brings a bounce to the mattress that not many mattress in a box companies offer.
The springs are Encapsulated so around the pocket springs is a box of support foam. Doing this gets rid of the downside off pocket springs which have the tendency to make you roll-off the edge of the bed. However, by boxing them with foam it mitigates the problem and adds extra support on the sides.
Sidelayer (17cm) – This layer as mentioned briefly with the pocket springs is the layer that helps hold the mattress together around the edges, and is a welcome benefit for people wanting edge support if they sleep on the circumference of the bed.
Base Layer (4cm) – The high-density foam makes up the base of the mattress, the base is sturdy to give longevity and prevent dips and sagging.
Cover – The OTTY mattress cover is 97% polyester and 3% spandex. This makes the cover is durable, flexible, and resistant to wrinkles and shrinking. OTTY’s cover is also hypo-allergenic which is perfect for anyone with dust or skin allergies. You can machine wash the cover by simply unzipping it and washing at a maximum of 40ºC temperature.
Thickness and weight
The OTTY mattress we are reviewing is a hybrid mattress, so it’s going to weigh more than an all-foam bed. In comparison to other hybrid mattresses, it’s heavier because of the full springs used. The Simba king-sized mattress weighs 38kg compared to OTTY’s 45kg.

You want to leave the bed for a few hours to fully expand to its original shape and size. With the bed being Certipur and Europur certified there will be minimal off-gassing but it still could take a day or two to dissipate, which is common for all mattress in box beds.
What’s the OTTY mattress like to sleep on?
The OTTY Hybrid gives above-average firmness with extra push back compared to an all-foam mattress. However, if your worried the bed might be too firm don’t be, it’s what a lot of people are use to because of traditional spring beds. So sleeping on it feels excellent because of the welcome upgrade of gel memory foam and great design.
Edge support – Usually spring mattress have inadequate edge support, but the OTTY mattress has added an extra layer to mitigate this. So, the edge support is excellent, and you won’t have to worry if you like sleeping on the edge of the bed.
Firmness – We score the bed 7/10 on the firmness chart in comparison the other mattress in a box brands because of the tall pocket springs.
Partner disturbance – partner distance is the opposite to bounce so you cant have a bed that stops all motion transfer and is bouncy. However, OTTY has done a great job of finding a balance with this bed. The memory foam comfort layer and encapsulated pocket springs help minimise partner distance while still leaving a bounce in the bed.

Is the OTTY mattress right for you?
To summarise our OTTY mattress review, the bed is an interesting mattress for a great price. It comes with a 10-year warranty and a 100-night sleep trial. The firmness of the mattress is 7/10 with a pushback when sleeping on the bed, which most sleepers prefer a firmer mattress with springs.
I would recommend the OTTY mattress to sleepers if:
You don’t like soft beds – Although OTTY has a memory foam top, it counteracts the other layers and gives a great feeling when sleeping on the bed. If you hate beds that are all memory foam because of the smothering feeling and the extra heat, then the OTTY Hybrid is excellent because of the increased airflow and the use of springs.
Value – The OTTY Hybrid mattress is the most value-packed mattress on the market, offering pocket springs, Certipur and Europur certifications, and other great features at a very low price.
Homegrown – OTTY is a UK company based in Leeds, and they started in late 2016. Although the company is based in the UK, the beds are made in China, similar to the Eve Hybrid.
Is the OTTY mattress good for back pain? It depends on your situation. You don’t get as much hugging support as an all memory foam mattress. However, the top layer is adaptive and does relieve pressure. Also, if you are heavier, this bed will be better for back pain compared to a softer mattress.
To finish, we think the quality of bed for the price is excellent, and OTTY has done a great job. The has excellent reviews (average of 4.2/5 on Amazon, 4.4/5 on TrustPilot). We think it’s the best option if you don’t want to break the bank and get a great nights sleep.
